Shooting Stars: Small Space Debris Lighting up the Sky

One night, I was outside taking my dog outside to use the bathroom. Is that a bird or a plane? No! A shooting star! 💫

A shooting star, also known as a meteor, is a small piece of space debris that enters Earth’s atmosphere and burns up, creating a streak of light across the sky.

Shooting stars generally move downward due to their entry into Earth’s atmosphere. However, some atmospheric conditions or the angle of observation might create the illusion of movement in different directions.
